The swedish journalist Per Björklund has been declared persona non grata by the Egyptian regime. The Swedish embassy in Cairo has not yet established contact with him.
– Egyptian officials has explained to us that Per Björklund is a persona non grata, says Joakim Vaverka, Counsellor Political and Economic Affairs at the Swedish embassy.
What does that mean?
– That he is not welcome in Egypt and that if he has not already been deported from the country, he will be.
Do you know why he has been declared persona non grata?
– No, I can just speculate, and I don’t want to do that right now.
How do you work with the case?
– We talk to different authorities, our aim is to get access to Per Björklund.
